Trial For May 2018 Fatal Accident Starts 12:02 am A West Virginia man appeared in Cambria County Court Today for charges related to the deadly wrong way crash in May of 2018. The courtroom was packed with friends and family members wearing the color red, in memory of victim, Olivia Red. The defendant, Chase Turner is facing charges of driving under the influence, homicide by motor vehicle, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. The commonwealth stated in an opening argument Turner’s blood alcohol concentration at the time of the crash was more than 3 times the legal limit. Angela Philips, the passenger in Red’s vehicle during the crash, was the first to take the stand and recalled the moments leading up to and following the head on collision.

Today, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) announced the selection of the 2020 Hanna Gray Fellows, a cohort of 21 early career researchers who are taking on some of the biggest challenges in the life sciences, such as understanding the innerworkings of the brain or the complexities of the immune system. By unlocking basic principles, their work could one day ease symptoms in patients with chronic pain, treat kids suffering from pediatric leukemia, and spark new therapeutics for emerging infectious diseases.
