Teen charged, two younger boys released

A teen faces charges in an apartment complex shooting that sent a 17-year-old to the hospital on Tuesday and kept 13-year-old and 14-year-old boys in police custody overnight.  Police believe Nyqualin Chatman, 18, was at the complex to take around $300 from the still unidentified 17 year old. Shelby Police kept 13- and 14-year-old boys in custody Tuesday night, but released them Wednesday morning without filing charges against them. Chatman reportedly left the area after the shooting.

Cleveland County designated as red COVID county

Public health officials are encouraging people to keep their holiday gatherings small and to social distance with masks on while meeting indoors. Health officials say individuals also should consider getting tested before going to or hosting a get-together.
