Athens teen charged with manslaughter in infant’s death: Sheriff Updated 7:08 PM; A teen from Athens was arrested Tuesday and charged with manslaughter in the death of a three-month-old infant that died earlier this month, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s deputies responded April 8 to a home on Myrtlewood Drive in Athens on a call of an infant having trouble breathing. The infant was taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital, where CT scans showed the baby sustained head trauma. The infant was then taken to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham on April 9 and died the next day, the sheriff’s office said.

Beginning Monday, Apr. 19, the hospital will accept walk-ins for the Pfizer vaccine on a first come, first served basis for people 16 and older.
