LTUSD to remain in distance learning due to current county-wide COVID data

Submitted by paula on Thu, 01/07/2021 - 9:42pm SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) Superintendent Dr. Todd Cutler has notified teachers, students and staff that they will have to postpone the reopening of in-person classrooms. Citing COVID-19 case levels not dropping to the desired levels in El Dorado County, and testing/tracing capacity, LTUSD will continue with distance learning at this time. It is heartbreaking to continually have to set our target return date back, but until we have a healthy and robust workforce to run the campuses for a consistent and extended period of time, we are reticent to set another target date, said Dr. Cutler in an email.

Open letter to the South Lake Tahoe community:

It was a great honor to serve as a member of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) Board of Trustees for the last four years. As previously reported, I am stepping aside to focus on my career and raising my beautiful baby girl. I said many times while I was on the Board that every family in the District was my family, and every child in the District was my responsibility. Now that I have a child of my own, I think the parents of LTUSD will understand when I say that I need to focus on my own family for the time being. But before I go I wanted to say thank you to this community for the opportunity to serve you, as well as offer some thoughts on the current state of civil discourse in our community and nation.
