Published: 4/10/2021 11:00:32 AM Now more than ever, Lakes Region residents and visitors are enjoying walking and bicycling on local trails. The Belknap County Conservation District (BCCD) recognizes completing the 20-mile Winnipesaukee Regional Rail Trail from Lakeport to Franklin as a regional priority. BCCD recommends that the Lakes Region Planning Commission assign a top priority to extend the popular WOW Trail. Almost half of the Winnipesaukee Regional Rail Trail is completed, but there’s a critical five-mile gap in the middle that needs to be filled. A proposed project to extend the WOW Trail another half mile moves us closer to connecting to 5.1 miles of completed trail in Tilton and Franklin and the 58-mile Northern Rail Trail.

Selectmen approve five-year road plan March 03, 2021The five-year road improvement plan will go forward after some more details were worked out. The selectmen unanimously approved the plan for 2021-2026 which outlines what roads will receive what types of repairs and in what order. The motion came with the provision that the selectmen reserve the right to make changes to it in the future if deemed necessary. The plan was the result of extensive work by public works director, Meghan Theriault and the public works team as well as many others. Theriault said she has been working on the plan everyday with information compiled from different sources.
