Taashan Smith charged with murder in Jan 30 shooting

Columbus police have charged two men for separate homicides and are asking for help in locating the suspects. Smith is suspected of shooting Ximines around 8:24 p.m. on Jan. 30 in the 3800 block of Bufflehead Drive on the Northeast Side. Ximines was transported in critical condition to Mount Carmel East Hospital, where she died at 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 31. Her death was Columbus 22nd homicide of 2021. Detectives are also seeking a 41-year-old Franklinton man wanted on a murder charge after a shooting at a carryout left an employee dead. Jimmy Crum, 51, of Franklinton, was shot around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Van s Carry Out, located at 1270 W. Town St. 

Homicide on Southeast Side Friday night is city s 21st of 2021

Columbus police homicide detectives responded to a homicide on the Southeast Side on Friday night, and also identified the victim of a homicide committed Wednesday in Franklinton. In addition, a third person is in critical condition from a shooting early Saturday on the Near East Side and investigators say the victim is not expected to survive his wounds. Police responded to a report of shots fired about 7:40 p.m. Friday on the 2800 block of Continental Drive in Independence Village East on the south side of Tussing Road near Reynoldsburg. Dejon Jordan, 22, was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. Madison Township medics transported Jordan in critical condition to Mount Carmel East Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 8:27 p.m.

Motorcyclist dies in east Columbus crash

Updated: 9:11 AM EST January 11, 2021 COLUMBUS, Ohio A motorcyclist died in a crash Sunday evening in east Columbus. Columbus police said 36-year-old Patrick Young was heading eastbound on a motorcycle on East Livingston Avenue at 5:40 p.m. Police said a woman in a car traveling westbound tried to turn left onto Bairsford Drive at the same time Young was approaching the intersection. Young hit the car and was thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition where he later died. The crash remains under investigation.

For the ninth time in a six-day period, Columbus police were called Wednesday night to a homicide scene. This time, the victim was 17. Officers responded around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting in the 6100 block of Deewood Loop West. There were no victims that officers could find, but there was evidence that a shooting had taken place and someone had been wounded. Less than 10 minutes later, police were called about two people who had walked into the emergency room at Mount Carmel St. Ann s hospital with gunshot wounds. They had been brought to the hospital in a private vehicle.
