Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart is making changes to its COVID-19 testing program. The health care system will expand testing and add 60 new COVID-19 rapid testing machines at its offices across Northwest Florida during the coming weeks
Ascension Sacred Heart administered 647 COVID-19 tests last week at its three urgent care locations, compared to the 288 COVID-19 tests two weeks ago.
The rapid test can provide results within 15 minutes, however the patient must see a health care provider before ordering the test as it is not a drive-thru test as it was at the peak of the pandemic last summer.
COVID-19 vaccine required for all Ascension Sacred Heart employees

On May 10, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized expansion of the emergency use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for adolescents ages 12-15 years. The same vaccine was authorized for use in people ages 16 and up in December.
Despite the FDA approval and the support from experts at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), many parents understandably have questions and concerns about whether their teenage child should get the two-shot vaccine. Speaking for the leaders and pediatric specialists at Studer Family Children s Hospital, we can tell you that based on all the available evidence, we recommend that teens 12 and older, and their parents, should get vaccinated to protect themselves and others. We support the approval by the FDA and the CDC guidance that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe, effective and should be given to those who are eligible.
