Security Council Terminates Mandate of AU-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur .Ghana among 40 countries that contribute military and police personnel to the departing mission Listen to article The Security Council decided during a 22 December videoconference meeting to terminate the mandate of the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) on 31 December 2020, withdrawing all uniformed and civilian personnel other than those needed for the liquidation of the mission by 30 June 2021. In the Resolution, the Security Council commended the countries that contribute troop and/or police personnel to UNAMID. Today, 40 countries contribute a total of 6,000 unformed personnel to the mission. Ghana currently has 51 police and military personnel, including 35 women, serving in Darfur.
