US Navy fires 30 warning shots to ward off Iran s speed boats - Al-Monitor: The Pulse of the Middle East

May 11, 2021 The crew of a US Coast Guard cutter fired multiple bursts of warning shots as two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fast-attack boats came too close to a formation of US Navy ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. Thirteen IRGC boats approached the group of six US vessels as they escorted the surfaced USS Georgia submarine through the strait, according to the US Navy. And this is not just senior enlisted levels, but senior officer levels, admirals, and generals,” Kirby said at a Pentagon press conference. “The numbers are not very high.” “The secretary believes this has got to be a concerted effort, an everyday effort, and it’s got to be led. If leaders across the department don’t take this on as a personal commitment, it’s not going to change,” he said.
