The AIL season has been cancelled
The 20/21 men s and women s Energia All-Ireland Leagues have been cancelled due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Clubs have been in limbo since last March when games were first suspended by the IRFU.
They saw some action in the autumn s Energia Community Series but that was a brief return, with the latest lockdown putting training and games on ice again.
It had been widely expected that the campaign would be scrapped and the IRFU today confirmed as much. The 2021/22 Vodafone Women s Interprovincial series has also been scratched.
The IRFU said tit will look to finish the Energia Community Series at some point and to review alternative forms of rugby, such as touch and tag competitions, to give players some form of action.

Following a meeting of the Union Committee it has been confirmed by the IRFU that the 2020/21 Energia All Ireland Leagues for men and women will not proceed, due to the on-going impact of Covid-19.
The Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial series will also not take place until the 2021/22 season.
The IRFU and the four provinces will now work with clubs to look at the completion of the Engeria Community Series and to review alternative forms of rugby, such as Lucozade Sport Touch and Volkswagen Tag, which may provide players with much sought after rugby later in the year.
