Sheriff Arrests Local Woman After Traffic Stop in Oelwein
An Oelwein woman faces drug and other charges, after she was pulled over Sunday afternoon.
A Fayette County deputy stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of 9th Avenue SW in Oelwein at about 3:30pm.

Following an investigation, 44 year old Jodie Marie Wakeford was taken into custody on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine,1st Offense; Driving While Suspended; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; No Proof of Insurance; and Failure to Wear a Safety Belt.
Wakeford was held in the Fayette County jail in West Union until her initial court appearance.
Man Arrested For Assaulting Cedar Falls Woman
A Waterloo man has been arrested on multiple charges for allegedly forcing his way into a Cedar Falls apartment and assaulting a woman.
Public safety officials said officers were called to an apartment at 1813 W. 8th St. for a kidnapping in progress around 8 PM Saturday. Upon arrival, a woman told authorities that the father of her children forcibly entered the residence, assaulted her and took their children.
The victim identified the father as 22-year-old Deshaun Jackson of Waterloo. She also reported that Jackson had intentionally destroyed her cell phone during the incident, officials said.
Waterloo, Other Cities Declare Snow Emergenies
Waterloo has joined several other northeast cities in declaring a snow emergency ahead of an approaching winter storm.
According to a press release from the city, Waterloo s snow emergency begins at 7 PM Monday and continues until 3 PM Tuesday. Snow routes are in effect for this period of time. Residents are encouraged to move their vehicles off city streets to allow crews to remove snow.
Motorists are reminded that trucks spread salt and sand. All motorists should maintain a safe distance of at least 50 feet when driving behind a snowplow.
