Trujillo Documents filed in the Marshall County Court reveal some additional information on what happened in the early morning hours of Monday at Casey’s on Third Avenue when Michael Ray West, 48, of Marshalltown, was killed. Rocky Dean Trujillo, 20, of Marshalltown, entered Casey’s with a small caliber handgun, shot West, who was an employee of Casey’s, in the chest and attempted to get money from one of the cash registers. Afterward, Trujillo threatened a customer by placing the barrel of the handgun against the customer’s head and demanded a cell phone. Trujillo fled to the 700 block of Bromley Street – three blocks away from Casey’s. He was arrested on Monday after Marshalltown Police Department and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation conducted interviews of potential witnesses.
