Des Moines, Ia- The Iowa Department of Public Health on Sunday reported an additional 533 cases of COVID-19. That brings the total number of positive cases in Iowa since the start of the pandemic to 324,405. COVID-19 related deaths saw no increase and remained at a grand total of 5,108. Hospitalizations decreased slightly with 316 individuals hospitalized with 68 in ICUs and 32 on ventilators. The Des Moines Register reports that a total of 324,929 people have received the COVID vaccine, with 150,239 having received their first dose, and 87,345 having received a second dose.
The number of COVID-19 vaccines coming to Iowa are expected to increase for a period starting this week, according to Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds. The governor said Wednesday the federal allotments for.

DES MOINES – The Iowa Department of Public Health on Wednesday announced the availability of COVID-19 vaccine for approximately 32,000 Iowans age 65 and older. Unused vaccines which were originally allocated to the Long-Term Care Pharmacy Partnership Program have been redistributed to a limited number of Walgreens and CVS stores in select Iowa counties, and reserved for Iowans age 65 and older. This is a one-time, additional allocation of vaccine.
Iowans age 65 and older can register online for a vaccine appointment at a participating Walgreens or CVS location near them. Appointments are limited to the number of vaccines available at each location.
If people are not able to secure a vaccine appointments, they can rest assured more vaccines are coming to the state on a weekly basis.
Iowa on Wednesday reported 1,199 new COVID-19 cases and 56 confirmed deaths during the 24-hour period between 11 a.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to data from the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Since the virus first appeared in Iowa in early March, 321,539 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 and 4,975 people have died.
Wednesday’s additions included 202 cases among young people ages 17 or younger, bringing the total number of youths that have tested positive for the virus to 35,307. Nine new cases were reported among education workers during the 24-hour period, bringing that total to 7,715.
Only five of the state’s 99 counties reported 14-day positivity rates above 15 percent.
