Bird Walk Scheduled by WCCB and NIACC – Mix 107 3 KIOW

They are hosting a “Spring Bird Walk” on Saturday, May 15 th. The program will be held at Pilot Knob State Park, five miles east of Forest City, from 10:00-11:30 AM. Winnebago County Naturalist Lisa Ralls describes how the event will unfold. The program will be very informative and cover a wide variety of birds who are both nesting and migrating through the area. Because the program is put together by North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), there will be a fee to participate.

NIACC Students Earn Seed Money in Regional Pitch Competition – Mix 107 3 KIOW

AJ Taylor2 hours agoLast Updated: April 21, 2021 Three student teams representing North Iowa Area Community College competed at the regional level in The Pappajohn Student Entrepreneurial Venture Competition held at NIACC on April 12, 2021.  Jillian Enke and Paige Rolling (Clear Lake Connected) Preston Kyles (Team Dream Chasers Basketball Academy), and McKelary Robertson (Unheard Voices Clothing) pitched their business ideas to panel members, Candi Karsjens, Pappajohn Center Innovation & Acceleration Director and Tim Putnam, Pappajohn Center Director. Students submitted executive summaries using the one-page Business Model Canvas format and financial projections and were judged on the concept and viability of their business ideas. Clear Lake Connected and Team Dream Chasers Basketball Academy were awarded $500 as regional winners. Robertson of Unheard Voices Clothing was selected to move on to the state competition on April 28, 2021, and will compete with students from Iowa State

For more than 15 years, NIACC has been providing adult students with this opportunity to return to college at no cost. Extreme Makeover: College Edition is a contest where two lucky winners receive an entire year of free tuition, textbooks and more. “This is an amazing way to makeover your life with a new education,” said Rachel McGuire, NIACC Director of Enrollment Services. Three other finalists will win half-price tuition to NIACC for the 2021-22 academic year.
