It wouldn’t be
Eurovision without some sort of controversy.
This year (as if COVID wasn’t enough) media questions were raised around Måneskin singer Damiano David, supposedly snorting cocaine in the green room.
Tests and an investigation have found it to be false.
The European Broadcasting Union issued a statement:
Following allegations of drug use in the Green Room of the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final on Saturday 22 May, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), as requested by the Italian delegation, has conducted a thorough review of the facts, including checking all available footage.

The lead singer of the Italian glam rock band which won the Eurovision Song Contest has been cleared of drug use.
The Geneva-based EBU said that following allegations of drug use backstage, it had reviewed the facts, including checking all available footage.
It said David voluntarily underwent a drugs test today which has returned a negative result seen by the EBU .
Damiano David denied taking cocaine following online speculation after footage showed him leaning over a table during the grand final on Saturday.

THE HAGUE: The singer for Italy’s Eurovision Song Contest winning rockers Maneskin will take a voluntary drug test after denying speculation that he was snorting cocaine during the broadcast, organisers said.
Red lederhosen-clad vocalist Damiano David will be tested after going back to Italy, following viral footage of him leaning over a table in the hospitality area of the competition in Rotterdam.
The furore comes after favourites Maneskin fought off stiff competition from France and Switzerland, surging to victory on the back of the public vote to win with 524 points with their song “Zitti e Buoni”.
