Russian Deputy Minister responsible for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM), Aleksandr Chupriyan, met today in Moscow with Greek Civil Protection Minister and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias.
During the talks, which took place in an excellent atmosphere, issues of strengthening Greek-Russian cooperation in the field of Civil Protection were extensively discussed.
There was particular emphasis on the exchange of know-how, good practices and expertise, according to the General Secretariat of Civil Protection.
Both Russia and Greece have significant experience in the prevention and response to natural disasters.
Greece, as a member of the European Civil Protection Mechanism – RescEU, actively contributes to the promotion of good practices developed in the European frame.

As reported by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Greece immediately responded to the request from the Indian authorities.
Through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, Greece is “ready to send 90 oxygen cylinders with a total capacity of 440 liters, as well as medical supplies (masks, gloves and other means of self-protection).”
The Indian health system is on the verge of collapse and there is a huge shortage of sanitary material for the treatment of COVID-19.
In especially short supply are oxygen cylinders.

ANKARA, April 30 (KUNA) Greece on Friday announced sending aid to India to combat the coronavirus amid surge infections.
A statement by the Greek Civil Defense General Secretariat said that the medical aid, which includes oxygen cylinders, masks, gloves and other medical supplies, would be sent through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, the Greek News Agency reported.
A number of Indian states imposed a full or partial closure after recording the highest daily COVID-19 fatalities and infections.
The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced earlier today that 3,498 New COVID-19 deaths, and 386,452 infections in the past 24 hours.
