All about the NZZ
The NZZ is one of the preeminent news sources in the German-speaking world, with a tradition of independent, high-quality journalism stretching back more than 200 years.
First published as the
Zürcher Zeitung, or «Zurich Journal», in January 1780, it was renamed the
Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ for short) in 1821. It has been published uninterrupted since then, making the NZZ the oldest newspaper in Switzerland and one of the oldest continuously published newspapers in the world.
Headquartered in Zurich, at the heart of Europe, the NZZ has dozens of correspondents around the world. Each day it offers readers new perspectives and inspiration through a mixture of fact-based analyses and pointed opinion pieces, informed by a philosophy of economic liberalism.
