European Institute of Innovation and Technology and Strategic Innovation Agenda: EU co-legislators reach political agreement
Representatives of the Portuguese presidency of the Council today reached a provisional political agreement with the negotiators of the European Parliament on a package consisting of :
amendments to the regulation on the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and
a decision on the future Strategic Innovation Agenda (SIA) of the EIT.
The key amendments to the existing EIT regulation concern financial sustainability and openness of Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), stronger principles for monitoring and evaluation and the role of the member states in the governance of the EIT. More specifically, the EIT will establish performance-based mechanisms for the granting of financial contributions to KICs in order to enhance their capacity to attract other investments and to finance their activities independently of the EIT s contributi

EU reaches agreement on revamp of EIT legislation
European Institute of Innovation and Technology will have more financial flexibility - but with that will come more oversight

EU policymakers have reached agreement on changing the legal footings of the EU’s innovation agency, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), giving public-private partnerships more control over their own budgets. The deal also sets EIT’s priorities for the next seven years.
“Together we make the EIT stronger [and] give it the means to develop its full potential,” tweeted EU research commissioner, Mariya Gabriel.

Study of 20,000 consumers across 18 European countries reveals trust in the food sector has increased over the course of 2020, yet the majority of consumers don’t consider the sector to be working in the public interest.
Consumer trust in the food sector has increased over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, a new report from Europe’s leading food innovation initiative can reveal.
The EIT Food Trust Report surveyed 19,800 consumers from 18 European countries to measure trust in the food system and confidence in food products. The study was conducted by a consortium of pan-European academic partners including the University of Reading, the European Food Information Council (EUFIC), Aarhus University, KU Leuven, and the University of Warsaw.
