Armenian weightlifters receive a hero s welcome at Zvartnots airpot The Armenian Weightlifting team returned home on Monday with dozens of fans welcoming them at Yerevan Zvartnots Airport. Armenian weightlifters Samvel Gasparyan and Arsen Martirosyan had won a gold and a silver medals, respectively, at the European Weightlifting Championships in Moscow on Saturday. Another member of the Armenian team Simon Martirosyan won a small gold.  Samvel Gasparyan, who competed in the 102kg weight class and won the champion’s title after lifting a total of 390 kg, noted that wining the champion s title was his goal before leaving for Moscow.  We had prepared for the tournament well, and I am happy we managed to win it. It could be the opposite - me taking the second place while Arsen could bring the gold. However, it was great that we left our opponent to the third place, Gasparyan said.
