The European Transport Workers Federation (ETF) is a pan-European trade union federation representing more than 5 million transport workers from more than 230 transport unions in 41 European countries in railways, road transport and logistics, maritime transport, inland waterways, civil aviation, ports & docks, tourism and fisheries.
The team of the Civil Aviation Department within the ETF consists of the Head of Aviation and the Policy Officer for Aviation. It is furthermore supported by a dedicated Administrative Assistant and a Communications Officer. While the Head of Department leads the political work in the field of civil aviation, the Policy Officer is working in a number of areas fully autonomously. The aviation team is closely cooperating with other teams within the ETF Secretariat.

Panamanian authorities would rather unleash police violence on union activists and detain peaceful protesters than address the urgent safety concerns canal workers have been highlighting.
The tug boat captains represented by Unión de Capitanes y Oficiales de Cubierta (UCOC) report that the country’s police violently broke up a protest on 29 April 2021. The workers help guide more than 12,000 ships through the canal every year.
Photos and videos captured by horrified on-lookers graphically depict police lodging tear gas at protestors, with gun shots potentially being fired. Several union activists were arrested by police also.

The group asserts that coordination is required on travel restrictions, vaccination certificates, and testing requirements
A clear and concise set of coordinated measures across Europe will help restore public confidence and is the only chance to save the upcoming summer season
Ahead of the 1 March Extraordinary meeting of Ministers of Tourism, 14 European stakeholders in aviation and tourism have urged the Portuguese presidency of the EU to put their efforts into the coordination of all restrictive measures related to COVID-19.
