The last match at the DELO EHF FINAL4, which saw Vipers Kristiansand taking an emphatic 34:28 win against Brest Bretagne Handball to lift the most coveted trophy in women’s club handball, was not only the final of the DELO EHF Champions League, it was also the final match of the European women’s club handball season 2020/21.

The move complements the federation’s latest efforts to grow audiences, engage and entertain them beyond the 60 minutes of the game and lay the foundation for a long term-growth of the sport. In particular, it chimes in with recent successes to reach new fans within a younger audience which saw the EHF’s ‘Home Of Handball’ TikTok channel growing by 90,000 followers (+600%) since December 2020.

The final weekend and climax of the DELO EHF Champions League is set to take place on 29 and 30 May in the Papp László Sportaréna in Budapest. The decision follows recent developments in Hungary with the country’s government lifting the restrictions for sport events and allowing spectators under certain conditions.
