Numerous roads are impassable in those parts of the country, due to snow and blowing snow. There are windy conditions in West and Northwest Iceland, as well as blowing snow and limited visibility. After a mild winter in most parts of the country, it is time to heed weather warnings and check road conditions.

A radar that can detect volcanic product in the atmosphere has been installed by the Icelandic Met Office on Strandarheiði hill, just south of Kúagerði farm on the Reykjanes peninsula, Southwest Iceland, in case of an eruption.
