Monrovia The Minister of Justice Cllr. Frank Musah Dean has written the National Elections Commission (NEC) requesting the halt in the certification of Brownie Samukai, in another blow to the Lofa County Senator-elect.
The Supreme Court a fortnight ago affirmed the verdict of the lower court convicting the Lofa County Senator-elect and two others to two years imprisonment or restitution of US$1.4 million.

After days of speculation in media outlets that the National Port Authority (NPA) has paid or planning to pay the sum of US$40,000 to the National Elections Commission (NEC) for a recount in Rivercess County following a mandate from the Supreme Court, the Commission has rejected the report and said it is “Untrue” and that it has no business with NPA or any other entity to fund election processes except the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP).
At a press conference held over the weekend at its headquarters in Monrovia, the NEC, through its chairperson, Davidetta Browne Lansanah, said it is the prerogative of the Ministry of Finance to fund all national elections through direct budgetary support or through partners of government.

The Collaborating Political Parties or CPP’s senatorial candidate Edith Gongloe-Weh has filed a bill of exceptions to the Board of Commissioners of the National Elections Commission Wednesday, 24 February in Monrovia.
Counselor Boakai P. Harris hired by NEC’s as fact-finder ruled that the complainant did not provide evidence to her allegations of “Frauds and irregularities” complaint against the Commission.
Therefore, Monday, 22 February, NEC denied and dismissed Complainant’s complaint and reaffirmed candidate Jeremiah Kpan Koung of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction as winner of the Tuesday, 8 December, 2020 senatorial election in Nimba County.

Monrovia Mr. Alexander Benedict Cummings, Political Leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), a political party within the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), has termed his party as the best among the four collaborating parties in the CPP.
The Liberty Party, All Liberian Party, former ruling Unity Party and the Alternative National Congress are the four opposition parties that make up the CPP.
Speaking at the ANC headquarters Monday, February 22, Mr. Cummings, who welcomed new members to his party, urged them to recruit their friends and loved ones to have a change in power in 2023.
