CINCINNATI â Kathy O Connell had no plans to open her own self-pour beer and cocktail bar in Cincinnati before taking a trip to visit a cousin in Chicago a few years ago. I went two and a half, almost three years ago now and visited him in Chicago and he said, Hey, I have this bar I want to take you to, O Connell said.
That bar was Tapster, an early adopter of new technology that allowed customers to pour their own beer and pay by the ounce using a radio frequency technology card. Tapster opened its first location in 2017.
Nine Giant Brewing s Fermentorium to feature experimental brews, more space for patrons
The Fermentorium, with a 2,500 square-foot first floor and a basement cellar of barrel-aged brews and spirits, is set to open soon on Ridge Avenue.

CINCINNATI â Running out of room is a good problem to have for Nine Giant Brewery and Kitchen in Pleasant Ridge. The brewpub now has its eyes on opening a second location on Ridge Avenue, just a block away from its flagship location, called the Fermentorium.
