DAMASCUS, Feb 4, 2021 (BSS/AFP) – Syrian forces responded late on Wednesday to “Israeli aggression” in the south of the country, the state news agency said.
Israel launched missiles from the disputed Golan heights at around 11:00 pm (2100 GMT) and caused material damage, the SANA news agency reported, citing a military source.
“Our anti-air defences responded… and intercepted most of the enemy missiles,” the source added.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the Israeli bombing targeted a position belonging to “the regime forces and where pro-Iranian militias are also present” in the southern Quneitra province.

JERUSALEM, Israel – Syria’s military said Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes overnight near Damascus.
A Syrian military official said Israel fired surface-to-surface and air-to-ground missiles at targets in southern Syria. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the missiles targeted several Iranian-backed forces in the Quneitra province. Some of those sites belonged to Hezbollah, according to the al-Arabia news agency.
The Saudi news site also said Israel attacked a Syrian military post rumored to store weapons for Iran.
There were no reported injuries but there was damage.
Earlier on Wednesday, at least two planes allegedly used by Iran to transfer weapons to Syria and Lebanon were spotted en route from Tehran to Damascus. The airstrikes also came after Hezbollah fired anti-aircraft missiles at an Israeli drone on Wednesday.
