Stock markets rallied in November 2020 as Pfizer and BioNTech announced some heartening news when it comes to a Covid-19 vaccination. This was followed by two further vaccines, one from Moderna and a further from University of Oxford & AstraZeneca.
Now the vaccine is ready to distribute there remains some major logistical challenges in moving and storing millions, indeed billions, of doses at ultra-cold temperatures. It will fall on the backs of the major 3PLs in the world, who have the capacity and capital to build such an infrastructure to deliver safely and efficiently.
Professor Stephen Powis, NHS National Medical Director, states that as the vaccine is very delicate and needs to be handled in certain conditions, it is important to get it right: “It [the vaccine]needs to be stored at -70C before being thawed out and can only be moved four times within that cold chain before being used.”

The government has introduced its independent Most Favoured Nation tariff policy known as the UK Global Tariff (
UKGT). As a result, the UK did not participate in the EU’s January 2021 tariff suspension round and will not participate in any future rounds.
If you have a business registered in an EU member state, then you will be eligible to participate in the EU suspensions process. If your business is registered in the UK, then you will have to participate in the UK’s independent suspensions regime and application process in order to be granted a duty rate suspension.

Delaying customs import declarations for up to six months
In the immediate aftermath of the Brexit transition period ending, delayed customs declarations is one of the biggest aids for businesses that import from the EU.
If you make use of it there is, for most goods, no need to make immediate import declarations for goods at the UK border, or get authorisation in advance. Instead, you can wait 175 days, or six months. This also means you can delay any customs payments until then too.

I am delighted to open this debate on Global Britain, when for the first time in forty-eight years we now have full control of our trade policy.
Back in 1846, Richard Cobden inspired people in Manchester with his belief that free trade would be
