Status Yellow snow and ice warning in place for 18 counties as heavy rain forecast for week

Met Eireann issues snow and ice warning for 18 counties as heavy rain forecast for week

However, icy conditions over northern areas has prompted the UK Met Office to issue a Status Yellow snow and ice warning for Tuesday. Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry could see snow with a risk of widespread ice causing challenging travel conditions. The warning will be valid for the six counties from midnight on Monday until midnight on Tuesday. Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority (RSA) again urged people to drive with care as the threat of snow and ice is replaced by the possibility of spot-flooding given the heavy showers forecast for the week ahead. Monday will prove to be a very wet day with heavy, wintry rain showers spreading across Leinster, Connacht and Munster.
