New etailer body sets out its manifesto
Iain MacDonald, founder of new trade association UK Digital Business Association (UKDBA), talks to Drapers about why now is the time to launch an organisation dedicated to etailers.
UKDBA founder Iain McDonald, who is also a non-executive director of The Hut Group and Boohoo Group, tells Drapers about the association s goals and why the new body was needed.
What are the organisation’s initial aims?
First and foremost, we’d like to engage in a dialogue with the government. We have already reached out and we hope to be meeting soon with either the Treasury or the wider government to talk about issues relevant to the sector. It sounds like there is going to be a period of consultation regarding taxation, and that is something we’d like to put our views forward on.
A new trade body, the UK Digital Business Association, has been launched by retailers, including ASOS, Boohoo, Gymshark and The Hut Group to champion the digital commerce.
