Since the beginning of the 20th century, several notable economists and industrialists including John Maynard Keynes have predicted that the four-day workweek was inevitable as a consequence of improvements in technology and as the concept of leisure came to be appreciated more, not simply as a means by which to relieve stress, but as a vehicle of economic growth.  Proposals for a four-day work vary from a reduction in the total number of work hours per week to the addition of a full holiday to the conventional weekend. The UK s Labour Party, as part of its election manifesto in 2018, had proposed a four-day, 32-hour working week which included no loss of pay to be instituted within the next decade but the move was lambasted by conservatives who contended that productivity would suffer. However, Microsoft s trial of a four-day week for its Japan-based employees actually yielded an increase in productivity.

The Canary and Skwawkbox, two of the websites most closely linked to Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour, have been found to promote “heavily negative coverage of Jewish issues” to audiences that are “associated with antisemitism”, a damning new government report has found. An analysis of content published online by the websites revealed alarming parallels between editorial lines taken by the two sites and that of the extreme far-right online outlet Radio Albion, when it came to the reporting of stories involving Jews.
