Watch Online Recording of UK s In-person Commencement Celebrating May 2021, 2020 Graduates

Video by UK Public Relations and Strategic Communications and Marketing and Brand Strategy LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 19, 2021)  This past weekend, the University of Kentucky celebrated May 2021 and 2020 graduates at Commencement Ceremonies at Rupp Arena. Nearly 4,400 graduates participated in 10 ceremonies held Friday-Sunday, and more than 37,000 people viewed the livestreamed events. Recordings of those ceremonies are accessible at the links below. Around 1,000 of the Commencement participants were 2020 graduates who were invited to take part in the 2021 ceremony after not having an in-person ceremony last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each graduate in attendance had the opportunity to invite four guests to their ceremony. Guests unable to be in attendance were able to view the ceremonies livestreams. 

5 Students Selected to Speak at UK Commencement Ceremonies

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 13, 2021)   Per University of Kentucky tradition, UK President Eli Capilouto has selected student representatives to speak at the UK Commencement Ceremonies May 14-16, at Rupp Arena. Five speakers in total were selected. Each speaker will address two of the 10 ceremonies. Given limitations on the number of people allowed on the stage, the speeches will be pre-recorded. The five student speakers are: Sy Bridenbaugh Bridenbaugh, from Richmond, Kentucky, is graduating with a doctoral degree in educational policy studies and evaluation from the UK College of Education. After suffering a severe football injury in high school, Bridenbaugh contracted a bacterial infection that resulted in losing his leg, and almost his life. After his leg was amputated, he made a decision to direct his passion for football to education. As an amputee, he embraces the unique way he lives his life. (LEX 18) — University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto says in-person commencement ceremonies will take place in May. In an email to members of the campus community, Capilouto says the ceremonies will take place at Rupp Arena on Friday May 14-Sunday, May 16. To keep people safe, several ceremonies will take place over the course of these three days. May, August, and December 2020 graduates are all invited to participate along with May 2021 graduates.

UK Announces In-Person Commencement Ceremonies In May

The University of Kentucky has announced plans for in-person graduation ceremonies.  According to a letter from President Eli Capilouto, the ceremonies will take place over the weekend of Friday May 14- Sunday, May 16 at Rupp Arena. Capilouto says the exact times will be announced in the coming weeks.  It will be UK’s first in-person commencement since December 2019. Credit University of Kentucky Capilouto says May, August and December 2020 graduates are also invited to participate along with May 2021 graduates. All 2020 graduates and May 2021 graduates will receive an email this week with details on registration. Final dates and times for the various ceremonies will be announced after registration closes and will be posted on the UK Commencement website.
