Detectives are investigating a series of blackmail offences in which a man has made threatening phone calls to individuals, families and households using various tactics to disguise his identity.Â
The victims are threatened with violence if they do not pay large sums of money.
Detective Constable Michael Beskine, said: âThe manâs method is frightening. He obtains the personal details of his victims and then calls them whilst disguising his telephone number as the numbers of his victimsâ friends and family to trick his victims into answering the phone. He tells his victims their addresses, their family memberâs names and other facts to scare them, before demanding money and threatening them with acts of violence.
Detectives in Enfield investigating an attempted murder are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Police were called at approximately 15:40hrs on Wednesday, 10 February following reports of an assault in the street at Wellington Road, Enfield, EN1
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found a 20-year-old man with a number of stab injuries.
The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
Preliminary enquiries suggest that the victim was cycling on nearby Lincoln Road, EN1, when he was pursued by three men in a light coloured car. The victim then attempted to flee his armed attackers on foot, running along Wellington Road on the perimeter of Enfield Cricket Club where he was captured and stabbed by the males.
Detectives investigating the murder of 17-year-old Anas Mezenner in north London have charged a further teenager.
[E] aged 17, was originally arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder on Saturday, 23 January and later released on bail. He was re-arrested today, Tuesday, 9 February, and was charged this evening.
He is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 10 February.
Four other teenagers have already been charged with Anas’ murder.
Two 16-year-old boys [A and B] were charged with murder and possession of points and blades. They appeared at North London Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 22 January.
[C] aged 16 and [D] aged 14 were both charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of bladed weapons. They appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 29 January.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Earls Court.
On Wednesday, 13 January at around 21:20hrs, the victim â a woman in her 40s â was walking in Trebovir Road, SW5 near to Earls Court Station when she was approached by two males.
One of the males punched the woman in the face and then both proceeded to attack her before both left the scene.
The London Ambulance Service were called and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries.
The suspects are described as a light-skinned black male, approx. 5ft 9inches tall and a black male, approx. 6ft 1inch tall â both had dark hair and were aged in their 20s/30s.
