Iran prisoner forgotten by UK govt: Family

LONDON: The family of a British-Iranian dual national detained in Iran fear that he will “be forgotten” as the UK government negotiates the release of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. Elika Ashoori, daughter of retired engineer Anoosheh Ashoori, said UK government officials and ministers have “refused to name” her father when discussing the hostage situation. Travel news latest: Popular European holiday destinations miss out on ‘green list’ Hugh Morris, Lucy Aspden Grant Shapps has confirmed that international travel will resume on May 17 as he revealed the long-awaited ‘green list’. British holidaymakers will have to wait until later in the summer to visit some of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations, after the Government revealed its “green” list. The USA was a shock omission from the UK’s quarantine-free holiday system, with just 12 countries or territories making the cut, including Portugal, Iceland, Gibraltar and Israel – you can read the full list below.  Spain, France and Italy are among the most popular destinations to miss out on a “green slot”.  The three traditional summer destinations will join the likes of Croatia, Greece and Malta on the “amber” list, meaning a quarantine of up to 10 days on return, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced this evening.

The Independent speculates whether this signals the end for Netanyahu, who has been in power for 12 years and is the country’s longest serving prime minister. The Financial Times report that Matthew Hedges, the UK academic jailed in the United Arab Emirates for six months in 2018 has launched legal action. Hedges was detained after being accused of working for MI6. Mayra Zulfiqar, 24, was found in a pool of blood in a flat on Monday. Thirteen days earlier, she had asked police for protection after accusing a man of abducting her at gunpoint. The law graduate had been threatened by two men who both wanted to marry her, according to legal documents seen by the BBC.
