BMT Marine Survey and Consulting Services Poised for Further Growth
Marine surveyors and consultants, like BMT, have cemented a global standing as one of the top ‘maritime tech’ consultancy’s in the world. Through over 20 years of operations in the Asia Pacific region, BMT have been able to boost industrial collaboration and strategic partnerships to position the business for continued growth through maritime consulting opportunities.
A combination of robust demand, coupled with the extension of government incentives to these ancillary services, has contributed to the dynamic momentum of the entire industry – in Singapore alone, P&I, H&M and Cargo premiums have served as catalyst factors to grow demand for marine surveys and consulting services.

UKHO Unveils New Innovation Programme to Support Blue Economy Development - 08/03/2021
The UK Hydrographic Office has launched a new ADMIRALTY Marine Innovation Programme. Spearheaded by the UKHO’s Research, Design and Innovation team and RE SET, the programme will give innovators and start-ups a chance to develop new solutions that solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges when it comes to our oceans.
The launch of this programme follows extensive research commissioned by the UKHO into the blue economy, which is estimated to be worth £3.2 trillion by the year 2030. Marine geospatial data will play an essential role in supporting this growth by enabling the identification of new areas for tidal and wind energy generation, supporting safe navigation for larger autonomous ships, playing a vital role in mitigating the effects of climate change, and more.
THE UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has been doing its bit to support the local community during the Covid-19 pandemic. UKHO, based at Admiralty Way, Taunton, has donated around 100 surplus-to-requirement laptops to the Taunton Learning Partnership (TLP), which is able to repurpose the devices for students who do not have adequate IT resources to support remote learning. TLP is a collaborative group of primary, secondary and special schools in Taunton and the surrounding area. All member schools are committed to supporting vulnerable children and families, while ensuring outstanding teaching and learning and striving for equity of provision and opportunity for all children, from ages 0-19 years.
