The Southern African Development Community (SADC )will send a technical deployment to Mozambique to plan an appropriate regional response to the Islamist terror attacks to bring about “lasting peace and security” in the country. The decision was made at the Extraordinary Double Troika Summit (DTS) of the Heads of State and Government of  SADC on 8 April. The special meeting was a summit of SADC’s double troika, which comprises the leaders of SADC’s troika, Mozambique, Malawi and Tanzania, as well as its security organ, Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe.  The summit was attended by SA president Cyril Ramaphosa; President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi; Botswana’s president  Mokgweetsi Masisi; Malawian president Lazarus Chakwera; Zimbabwean president Emmerson Mnangagwa, United Republic of Tanzania president Hussein Ali Mwinyi. SADC executive secretary Stergomena Lawrence Tax was also in attendance.
