Meanwhile, back in Zimbabwe, the struggle continues.
The Save Zimbabwe Campaign (SZC) is a broad coalition of organisations spearheaded by the Zimbabwe Christian Alliance (CA).
Its members include the factions of the MDC, other opposition parties, church groups, civil rights groups and trade unions.
The campaign’s aims include the restoration of democracy, human rights and a legitimate government in Zimbabwe through providing early, free and fair elections under proper international supervision.
As one of its active institutional members, we rally our party membership and leadership to attend.
The other MDC faction also heeds the call.
We are joined in endorsing the prayer meeting by the entirety of civil society, including the NCA, Crisis Coalition, Combined Harare Residents Association(CHRA) and the churches.

So, it is 2021 and about a week since the last Ordinary East African Community’s Heads of States Summit. The meeting was held as a video conference with attendees calling in from their respective offices. I approve of this heartily, physical meetings of heads of state are a pain in the traffic jam for hosting cities and you can’t tell me otherwise.

In the Ghana program, Straub and other students who would have traveled to that country met on Zoom throughout January with a Ghanaian physician. Following the extensive breeding that took place at the end of 2020, desert locusts remain present across the greater Horn of Africa (HoA). Additionally, recent rains in parts of Kenya and Ethiopia provide an opportunity for the current swarms to mature and lay eggs, which would lead to another generation of breeding. The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) reports that the current situation differs from this time last year, in that current swarms are smaller, and less numerous1 . The impact on affected communities however remains high. In addition to multiple waves of desert locusts, communities also faced multiple crises in 2020, including insecurity, cyclones, floods and dry spells, as well as the social and economic consequences of the Covid
