QUEZON CITY, April 10 (PIA) The Climate Change Commission (CCC) has emphasized the influential role of the media in raising the alarming issue of climate change in the country, laymanizing its complexities, and shaping opinions and engaging the public in taking urgent, and ambitious climate action.
In the ‘Collab on Climate Change Fellowship’, organized by the Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University and Internews’ Earth Journalism Network, the CCC, led by Commissioner Rachel Anne S. Herrera, delivered a lecture to the participating environmental journalists about the Philippine Government’s response to climate change.
Amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the
14th National Assembly managed to deploy e-parliament and artificial intelligence in organising meetings. In particular, as the Covid-19 pandemic restricted people’s travel for over a year, the National Assembly conducted several meetings via teleconference for the first time.
The National Assembly’s monitoring work also made good impressions on voters as it focused on several pressing social matters.
Regarding legislative activities, the 14th National Assembly adopted critical laws - 72 laws and 18 resolutions to be exact - which met requirements for Vietnam’s socio-economic development in the new era. The 14th National Assembly also recently completed appointing top leaders with a high level of consensus.
Vietnam, in its capacity as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, and Italy – in its role as Chair of the G20 and Co-Chair of the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, could strive and work together on fields of shared interest such as trade liberalisation, climate change combat and respect of international law, said Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Manlio Di Stefano.
