The British Council in Turkey initiated this ‘
UK Alumni Climate Change Grant Call‘ to select projects that will raise young people’s (between the ages of 18-35) awareness on climate change and environmental issues in Turkey. The call is for innovative projects to be delivered by the UK alumni from Turkey, which also showcase expertise and innovation in the UK in this area.
The British Council is working with partners worldwide to support the success and legacy of COP26 by creating opportunities for cooperation, dialogue and action in arts, education and science that address the shared challenges of climate change. There will be an innovative and creative programme of activity and engagement which includes bringing together UK Alumni from Turkey to share learning, engage in advocacy and build networks.

If I hear one more government minister utter the word “unprecedented” I swear I will scream!
When asked what the biggest challenge was of being in government, former Conservative prime minister Harold Macmillan famously remarked: “Events, dear boy; events.
Unprecedented is not an excuse, it is what government is all about.
The mark of a competent administration is how they deal with unprecedented situations. Did they prepare for significant risks; Floods, Epidemics, Brexit, Wars, Environmental disasters? Then when the unexpected did strike; how did they handle it?
The public should not blame politicians for situations they cannot prevent, but should judge them on how they deal with those situations. It would be unfair to blame the government for the deaths caused by Covid 19.
