On January 6, 2021, as U.S. elected officials met to certify the 2020 presidential electionâs results in Washington D.C., a few hundred pro-Trump rioters breached the outer walls of the Capitol building, home to the House and Senate, before being met with a delayed police response. The clashes led to the shooting and eventual death of one female rioter.
