Key Leaders & Groups Urge Biden Administration To Deny Pending Deepwater Port Fossil Fuel Export Facilities Proposed export facilities would accommodate the global export of massive quantities of crude oil on shipping vessels known as Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) Contacts Washington, D.C. Today, a coalition of local, regional and national environmental and community groups sent a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas urging them to take necessary action to stop several deepwater port terminals proposed throughout the Gulf of Mexico off the Texas and Louisiana coasts. If built, these terminals would drive the global export of massive quantities of domestically-extracted crude oil on shipping vessels known as Very Large Crude Carriers (“VLCCs”), each as large as the Empire State Building.

Burroughs Tuesday, April 6, 2021   Bill was born on April 26, 1956, and was the son of the now deceased William T. and Augustine Burroughs, née Gurkin.  He grew up on the East Coast of the United States in a U.S. Coast Guard family.  In the family tradition, Bill served and retired from the United States Coast Guard after 20 years of honorable service.  After retirement, he honed his hobby of woodworking into a cabinet making business - Burroughs & Sons, where he worked with his two sons.  Bill was an avid traveler, connoisseur of fine bourbon, and Carol’s fabulous cooking.  He was a one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew him.

City denied United States Coast Guard City designation, will reapply Cheboygan Daily Tribune CHEBOYGAN Although the City of Cheboygan was recently denied the designation of being called a United States Coast Guard City, the city plans to reapply in the future with some updates to the application. Cheboygan City Manager Tom Eustice shared a letter he had received from the United States Coast Guard regarding the designation the city had applied for with the council members at their March 23 meeting. Because of COVID it has been kind of a long process, said Eustice. It was originally proposed to be designated or not designated in July, then it got backed up to December. We finally got the determination as to whether or not we would be a designated Coast Guard City.
