The Connecticut River Task Force will be on patrol over the July 4 weekend in an effort to reduce boating under the influence (BUI) and foster a safe environment on the river, according to the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
“The Fourth of July offers an excellent time for us all to get outside, enjoy the water with friends and family, and celebrate the holiday. However, we all must remain responsible while boating to ensure the operator, passengers and those around us enjoy a safe experience,” Massachusetts Environmental Police Col. Shaun Santos said in a statement. “Importantly, the Massachusetts Environmental Police and other public safety entities will be strongly enforcing the commonwealth’s BUI law in an effort to reduce tragic incidents from occurring.”

CHEBOYGAN Members of the Bring It Cheboygan! group and several other volunteers recently put together a potluck dinner for the members of the United States Coast Guard stationed in the City of Cheboygan.
The first of these soon to be monthly events was Wednesday, June 30, at the Hive North Mead and Cider Hall in downtown Cheboygan. All personnel who are serving on the United States Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw ship, which is docked in Cheboygan, were invited to attend. I was a little nervous when we had 40 Coasties RSVP, said Connie Rieger of the Bring It Cheboygan! group. But I m happy they all showed up. It s good to see everybody so happy.
