Eastern Lays Keel for Second Offshore Patrol Cutter

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. (ESG) on Monday held a keel authentication ceremony for the U.S. Coast Guard’s future Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC), USCGC Chase (WMSM-916), at its Nelson Street facility in Panama City, Fla.
The 360-foot vessel is the second of the Heritage-class OPC being built by Eastern to replace the Coast Guard s 210-foot and 270-foot Medium Endurance Cutters. The series first vessel, USCGC Argus, is scheduled to be delivered in 2022.

Volunteers within the community conduct their search for young beach swimmer

Members of the Corpus Christi Fire Department says they are still in full recovery mode. They are not the only ones, several agencies like the United States Coast Guard, Corpus Christi beach rescue, CCFD, and more searching the open waters.
Bassâ mother Ana says the family came to the beach Sunday night, Andrew and his 16-year-old brother went for a swim and thatâs when things took a turn.
His mother also says two surfers were able to help the younger brother back to shore but they could not find Andrew. Besides first responders conducting their recovery, several volunteers were conducting their own search.
