Recruit Receives Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship | News, Sports, Jobs

This fall the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy awarded recruit Jacob Dietzel the Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship worth $1,000. Dietzel is attending the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy at Jamestown Community College. He is from Jamestown and graduated from both Jamestown Community College and the State University of New York at Fredonia, and also serves in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Dietzel was accepted into the Sheriff’s Academy in August 2020. The Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship was created by Verna Feather, the widow of Dan Feather, an 18-year veteran of the Jamestown Police Department. The recipient must be a Chautauqua County resident who is attending the Sheriff’s Academy and possesses qualities which reflect the professionalism and character that Dan Feather demonstrated during his service as

In this series of articles, we will nevertheless attempt to bring the phenomenon of medieval maritime warfare to light, drawing on the relatively sparse literature that does exist to paint a picture of naval warfighting during the period from the fall of the Western Roman Empire in AD 476 to the onset of the Protestant Reformation in 1513. February 12, 2021 In continuing our celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth, meet Police Officer First Class Richard Swann. PFC Swann chooses to serve in Charles County because he was born and raised here. He says “there would be no better place to protect and serve than where I come from.” Before joining CCSO, PFC Swann served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years in Camp Pendleton, California. After that, he worked for Dunbar Armored as an armed guard transporting money while he was waiting to be hired on as a Police Officer. He says that being a police officer today is definitely a challenge. “Today’s climate does add a layer of difficultly to the job. I honestly do not mind the challenges of being an officer today. I like a job with a challenge, and I like helping people in need.”
