PARAMUS, NJ - The borough hired 10 police officers at its final meeting of 2020.
The following officers were officially approved by a 4-3 vote at the Dec. 28 council meeting at a starting salary of $45,048. The following biographies were issued by Chief of Police Kenneth Ehrenberg.
Jamie Takahashi was born in New York City and is a long time resident of Paramus. Jamie graduated from Paramus High School, and then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in economics. Shortly after graduating from college, Jamie was commissioned into the New York Army National Guard as a Transportation Officer. Jamie is presently a 1st Lieutenant and assigned as the Executive Officer for the 719th Composite Truck Company. In 2017, Jamie joined the Paramus Volunteer Fire Department and became a Special 1 Police Officer with the Borough of Paramus. Jamie then attended and graduated from the Morris County Police Academy in 2018. Jamie speaks both Korean and Japanese.

The 1960s saw the development of some very unique and very specialized military aircraft. Among those was the North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco, a twin-turboprop light attack and observation aircraft. Developed in the early 1960s for use as a counter-insurgency (COIN) combat, the OV-10A’s primary role was a forward air control (FAC) plane during the Vietnam War.
Interestingly, it was actually first conceived by the United States Marine Corps, which saw a need for a rugged, simple, close air support aircraft that could provide support in forward ground operations. One consideration was an aircraft that could use roads as runways. While the U.S. Army was focused on helicopters, the project was then joint developed by the USMC, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy as a tri-service program and the first production airc

King credits an âaggressive recruitment strategyâ for the new hires, as law enforcement agencies in general experience what he calls a âhiring crisis.â

The officers will fill spots created by retirements, both recent and anticipated in upcoming months, as well as bringing staffing levels up, King said.
