In a new video, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) claims that McDonald’s Corporation withheld information about its plan to raise wages to $15 an hour, even though it didn’t – and she demands that the company do something that it has no power to do.
On Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez shared a video in which she claims that McDonald’s “didn’t say” the wage hike “was only for their corporate locations, which only covers about five percent” of McDonald’s stores:
“McDonald’s recently announced that they were going to be raising their minimum wage, quote-unquote, to $15 an hour.
“But, what they didn’t say is that it was only for their corporate locations, which only covers about five percent – five percent – of all of the McDonald’s across this country. Ninety-five percent of the McDonald’s locations are franchises.

WASHINGTON The U.S. House approved the creation of a bipartisan commission to investigate the causes of and government response to the Jan. 6 insurrection during which a pro-Donald Trump mob violently stormed the U.S. Capitol in an unsuccessful attempt to block the certification of the 2020 election results. Several Texas congressional members braced themselves that day for hand-to-hand combat but were able to escape to safety thanks to the police and successful barricades.
Over the last several years there have been counties in Oregon that are trying to join Idaho. As of right now there are 5 counties that want to leave Oregon and become part of Idaho, creating Greater Idaho. Would you support it?
The bill creating the commission, which would have subpoena power, passed 252-175. Republican U.S. Reps. Tony Gonzales of San Antonio and Van Taylor of Plano were the only two GOP Texans to support the measure.
A successful move would require approval from the state legislature and the United States Congress. By Istock
