THE United States President-elect, Joe Biden’s appointment of three young Nigerians into his cabinet is replete with lessons, not just for Nigeria, but for the entire African continent. Biden first appointed 39-year-old Adewale Adeyemo, who was the first President of the Obama Foundation, as United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury.
Next, Biden appointed 26-year-old Miss Osaremen Okolo, who hails from Ewohimi in Esan South East Local Council of Edo State, as his COVID-19 Policy Advisor. Miss Okolo is a graduate of Harvard University and a former Senior Health Policy Advisor in the US House of Representatives.

A new patent filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment has surfaced and is making the rounds for its implications involving the PS5 and what might be added to it in a future update. The patent comes the way of the United States Patent & Trademark Office, and while it was filed back in September, it wasn t published until January 7. Like most patents, this new one boasts a boring name, Placement of User Information in a Game Space, however, while the patent s title is a snoozer, the details inside are actually quite interesting.

On January 13, 2021, the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) released a report entitled Trademarks and patents in China: The impact of non-market factors on filing trends and IP systems. The report covers patent and trademark filing trends in China and the United States and the non-markets factors (i.e., money) behind the filing trends. For example, China has reportedly adopted more than 70 subnational trademark subsidy measures, including measures for domestic and foreign applications and registrations. Further, all 31 Chinese provinces/municipalities have patent subsidy measures.
