It marks the second time Garcia has earned NFCA National POY accolades after picking up the award in 2018, and her third yearly NFCA honor (National Pitcher of the Year in 2019). The Schutt Sports/NFCA National Player of the Year award was first handed out in 2016, while the first Pitcher of the Year accolade was given in 2019, with the awards voted on by members of the NFCA s NCAA DI All-American Committee.
Garcia earned numerous awards in her senior season, including NFCA First Team All-American and All-Region, Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year and All-Pac-12 First Team, Senior CLASS Award winner and Top 3 finalist for USA Softball POY. She went 18-3 with a 1.39 earned run average and 183 strikeouts in 136 1/3 innings, while adding a .342 batting average, 13 home runs and 35 runs batted in.

The Women’s College World Series is back after being canceled last year due to COVID-19. This year, more than 10,000 fans are getting ready to pack into USA Softball Stadium for the last round of the NCAA tournament.
“You re right on top of the action and there s a lot more action than there is in women s softball than there is in baseball,” OSU fan Tim West said.
People from all around the country hopped in their cars and made the trek to Oklahoma City. Chastity Smith said she took the trip this year with her mom. She’s grateful they had the opportunity to see the WCWS live.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Shortstop Braxton Burnside, pitcher Mary Haff and first baseman Danielle Gibson took home National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American honors to cap off a record-setting postseason awards haul for Arkansas softball. Burnside and Haff became the first student-athletes in program history to garner first team honors, while Gibson earned second team recognition. Before this season, Miranda Dixon (2010, Third Team) and Autumn Storms (2019, Second Team) were the only All-Americans in program history.
Burnside smashed a single-season school record 24 home runs, which ranked second in the country and tied for third in SEC history. She was named to the All-SEC and NFCA All-Region First Teams, a USA Softball Player of the Year Top 10 Finalist and a two-time SEC Player of the Week. It all comes down to this. Less than one week stands between Alabama softball and the chance at a national championship.
The journey starts for the Crimson Tide Thursday at 6 p.m. on ESPN when No. 3 Alabama (50-7) opens play against the No. 11 Arizona Wildcats (41-13) in Oklahoma City. I just feel blessed right now, said Alabama s recently-dubbed all-American catcher Bailey Hemphill. I mean this is what you want to achieve when you play college softball is play at the World Series.”
Hemphill is one of 14 upperclassmen on the Alabama roster who has experience at the Women s College World Series. She believes that experience throughout the roster, including a win against Arizona in at the 2019 WCWS, will be an advantage for the Crimson Tide.
