Monrovia -– In April 2019, just over a year into the George Weah-led government, a major concession agreement was announced. Trumpeted as a game changer for traffic safety and enhancement of operations of the Liberia National Police, the Liberia Traffic Management Concession is now in limbo.
On April 16, 2019, President Weah, surrounded by key members of his administration, expressed appreciation for one of the first major investment of his government, hailing the outcome of the partnership between his administration and the LTM as a major booster to the police which would go a long way to enhance public safety and traffic management.
Nigeria is facing a food security crisis that is compounded by the COVID-19 global pandemic and its effects on the food value chain in the country. The pandemic has significantly disrupted already fragile value chains across the country, including people’s ability to produce, process, and distribute food. The disruption to agricultural productivity and markets has a knock-on negative impact on livelihoods, especially among the most vulnerable households.

Feed the Future initiative, USAID/Nigeria is seeking to partner with youth-led companies (up to age 29) and mid-stage companies (with an existing customer base of more than 1,000 people) that are already working in food production, processing, and/or distribution. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed Deposit money banks (DMBs) in the country to accept both Old series and lower denominations of United States Dollars (USD) that are legal tender for a deposit from their customers.
In a circular on Thursday signed by the Director, Currency Operations Department (CBN), Ahmed Umar, the apex banking sector regulator expressed concern that in recent times, it has been inundated with complaints from members of the public on the rejection of old/lower denominations of US Dollar bills by deposit money banks (DMBs) and other authorized forex dealers.
The regulator, therefore, instructs that DMBs/authorized forex dealers should “henceforth accept both old series and lower denominations of United States Dollars (USD) that are legal tender for a deposit from their customers.
