LAS VEGAS - Another high-scoring day at the 2021
The barrage of big scores Saturday included a Team USA member, former collegiate standouts and a group getting its first taste of national success, helping kick off the third week of the 79-day event at the South Point Bowling Plaza and South Point Bowling Center.
The 2021 USBC Open Championships marks the first time in 117 years of tournament history that competition is being held across two venues, but the move will allow for more than 7,700 five-player teams (more than 38,000 bowlers) to compete in the pandemic-shortened tournament.
For those still headed to Las Vegas before the July 18 conclusion of this year s event, two-time Team USA member Michael Martell of Brooklyn, New York, is the player to beat in Regular All-Events, after he finished his Open Championships debut with a 2,194 nine-game total, an average of nearly 244.

Since officially trading in his cleats for bowling shoes, Campbell has been a rising star on the lanes and was able to add to his family s legacy at the USBC Open Championships by rolling the first perfect game during team competition this year at the South Point Bowling Plaza.
It was the fifth 300 of the 2021 event, which features different lane conditions for team play and doubles/singles, while competition is being held across two venues for the first time in 117 years of tournament history. All team bowling is being done at the Bowling Plaza, and doubles/singles squads are taking place at the South Point Bowling Center.

As former teammates on the biggest stage in bowling, the two collected a pair of Team All-Events titles, winning the coveted crown in 2013 and 2015, and they re now in position to add a doubles victory to the list in 2021.
The duo posted a 1,399 total Sunday at the South Point Bowling Center to catapult to the top of the Regular Doubles standings. Novak led the way with games of 259, 246 and 223 for a 728 series, while Vermilyea contributed 203, 222 and 246 for a 671 set.

That potential became reality Friday at both the South Point Bowling Plaza and South Point Bowling Center, as the Regular Division got big scores and new leaders in every event, and the Standard Division experienced a bit of a shakeup, too.
At the South Point Bowling Plaza, Nicholas J s Pro Shop 2 of La Crosse, Wisconsin, already had attracted a crowd of fans and fellow competitors simply by reputation and track record alone, and the group didn t disappoint in 2021, posting games of 1,057, 1,131 and 1,099 for a 3,287 total.

United States Bowling Congress Open Championships and the chance to reunite with friends and teammates. The break proved to be as good for his bowling game as it has been for his daily outlook, and he was able to lead Seven Pin Pro Shop 3 of Omaha, Nebraska, to the top of the Standard Team standings Thursday at the South Point Bowling Plaza. Arrowood turned in the best set of his six appearances on the tournament lanes, and his 661 series helped the team to games of 905, 1,050 and 949 for a 2,904 total. He was joined on the lanes by Doug Brummel (591), Douglas Cunningham (571), Shane Stanley (569) and Joel Wassom (512).
