TIMMONIUM, Md. â Friday is the 36th annual Fallen Heroes Day.
It s a day which honors police officers, firefighters, and other emergency personnel who died in the line of duty.
The annual event is the only statewide ceremony in the nation that brings together all segments of the public safety community.
The Fallen Heroes Day ceremony is usually open to the public. Because of the pandemic, only family members of those killed in the line of duty will be allowed to attend in person this year.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Lamar Jamal Perkins.

Lamar Jamal Perkins is wanted for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy to kidnap at gunpoint an individual he and others had met at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in National Harbor, Maryland, on February 3, 2021. It is alleged that the victim was kidnapped at gunpoint, driven to Washington, D.C., beaten, and threatened in order to obtain information regarding the code to the safe in his hotel room. During the abduction, the suspects allegedly stole property from the victim, including his hotel key, watch, wallet, identification, and phone. In addition, the suspects allegedly took cash, poker chips, drugs, an Xbox, a backpack, and a suitcase from the victim’s hotel room. MARYLAND In honor of police, firefighters and emergency medical/rescue personnel who died in the line of duty, the 36th annual Fallen Heroes Day observance will be live-streamed May 7 at 1 p.m. on the Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens Facebook page.
The annual event is the only statewide ceremony in the nation that brings together all segments of the public safety community. Fallen Heroes Day, which is held each year on the first Friday in May, also is an opportunity for the public to show their appreciation for those who risk their lives every day to protect the citizens of Maryland. Including this year s observance, the ceremony has honored 190 Maryland first responders.
Pamela Smith Named First Black Woman Chief of U.S. Park Police

Pamela A. Smith, a 23-year veteran of the United States Park Police, will lead the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency.
Chief Smith, who becomes the first African American woman to lead the 230-year-old agency, immediately remarked that she would establish a body-worn camera program for USPP within 90 days.
The program will initially begin in San Francisco and be implemented across the country by the end of the year, Chief Smith stated.
