SIOUX CITY A second Eagle Grove man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison on charges stemming from a meth trafficking ring in Webster and Wright counties.
Cory Schultz, 38, pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and two counts of distribution of methamphetamine on Nov. 23, 2020. He was accused of conspiring with others to distribute more than 20 pounds of mixed methamphetamine from November 2018 to March 2020.
Schultz was caught on home security recordings distributing meth to other co-conspirators, and the residence he used as a hub for the meth trafficking was located within 1,000 feet of a protected location, Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove.
A verdict on Friday led to a Jacksonville man running out of the courtroom after he was found guilty for posting revenge pornography to social media and sending the pictures and videos to his ex-girlfriend s employer in 2018.
Onslow County District Attorney Ernie Lee announced Derrick Brandon Stokes, 34, was found guilty of three counts of disclosure of private images, three counts of disseminating obscenity, and three counts of having attained the status of a habitual felon. The jury took less than half an hour to find Stokes guilty, who was waiting on the main floor of the courtroom for the announcement.

SIOUX CITY An Eagle Grove man will spend more than seven years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in the Wright and Webster county areas.
James Calvert, 44, pleaded guilty in November to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and two counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Calvert was sentenced to 90 months’ imprisonment in federal court in Sioux City on Saturday. He must also serve a four-year term of supervised release following his time in prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
According to court records, Calvert conspired with others to distribute more than 500 grams of mixed methamphetamine from January 2019 through March 2020 in the Wright and Webster county areas.

PALMETTO, Fla. (WWSB) - The Palmetto Police Department has issued an arrest warrant in connection to a 2014 homicide.
On March 22, 2014, Javare Thomas, who was from Sarasota, was shot in the head while riding in the backseat of a sedan in Palmetto, according to police.
Thomas was a passenger in a friend’s vehicle that had just left The Hall nightclub in Palmetto. As the car traveled along Haban Boulevard toward U.S. 41, police said a black pickup truck pulled up next to them and the driver fired multiple shots into the sedan.
